A New Chapter for Skirball Hospice

Since its founding in 2002, Skirball Hospice, a nonprofit program of Los Angeles Jewish Health, has been dedicated to providing compassionate care to individuals and families throughout Los Angeles. Originally established as Jewish Home Hospice, the program was guided by the values of the Jewish faith and a deep commitment to honoring each person with dignity, comfort, and respect.

The program quickly earned a reputation for exceptional quality and service. In 2006, a generous leadership gift from the Skirball family helped expand and strengthen the hospice’s reach and impact, leading to its evolution as Skirball Hospice and its continued growth and success. For more than two decades, Skirball Hospice has been privileged to support countless patients and families with expert care, compassion, and guidance during some of life’s most meaningful moments.

Following a strategic review of how best to meet the needs of older adults, Los Angeles Jewish Health entered into an agreement under which VNAcare assumed operation of the Skirball Hospice program. Founded in 1952, VNAcare is a nonprofit healthcare organization with nearly 75 years of experience delivering compassionate, community-based care. This agreement enables Los Angeles Jewish Health to remain focused on its expanding continuum of senior services while ensuring that hospice care continues under the leadership of an experienced nonprofit provider.

Our organizations share a deep commitment to providing high-quality, person-centered care that honors the dignity, preferences, and unique needs of every individual. This transition reflects the strong alignment between our missions and values and supports the continuation of the compassionate care that patients have come to expect.
